This is the 3rd in a series of posts exploring various breathing techniques. All of them are momentary aids to relieve stress & tension, re-energize, re-focus and/or just feel good.
The 3rd technique to explore is called white light breathing.
The length of the inhalation & exhalation for this one is up to you.
Although the exhalation should be longer than the inhalation.
You want to focus more on imagery.
As you inhale, imagine your body filling up from the feet, all the way to the top of the head.
Imagine you are filling your body with the most brilliant, white light, like pure energy.
Then, as you exhale, imagine your body emptying from the top of the head, all the way down to your feet.
Imagine you are getting rid of black, negative energy. Stress, anxiety, frustration, overwhelm. We can class anything like this under the following highly technical term:
Black shitty stuff.
It’s not the most scientific or romantic description but it is practical.
So you breathe in white light – fill your body up from feet to head.
Then…
Breathe out black shitty stuff – empty your body from head to feet.
If you practice this while standing it will be more effective.
Let go of self-importance and have fun imagining the white/black energy factor.
